so, three months ago i was in the best shape of my life. i had recently completed two half marathons, i was making sure i was going to gym to look good for the upcoming wedding, and i was just feeling great.
then, fast forward to today. and i have lost my motivation, i hardly work out, and i am feeling frumpier then every... i lost the fit girl i was.
and i realize its all because i just lost track. i got married, got a new job, moved, and was trying to figure out my "new life". and all of this was great but i lost my health routine. i lost my motivation to run (i think we can attribute this to the never ending winter in minnesota that struck this year). i never felt like going to the gym. so i didn't go. and as the months have gone on. i feel less and less like myself. and i have come to the realization its because i lost that inner fit girl.

it is amazing, how fitness is something that you truly work at. and i did for a year. it was a critical part of my daily routine, i loved it.
but, it is something that goes quickly. and for me it is way gone.

but i know my "fit girl" can come back. so starting this week, i am getting back into my fitness goals.
...back to the working out/ moving 3 times a week, back to making healthier food choices. back to doing fit reports and constantly establishing health goals, it's what worked for me before. so if i know it works, you do what you gotta do.

with that. here are my new spring/summer fitness goals
work out 3/week. run outside at least once
sign up for a 10k run (or two!)
make sure to eat 5-8 fruits and veggies everyday
reduce sugar intake.
more daily, go on walks! enjoy the sunshine
do a weekly fit report

have you ever lost track of your fitness goals? do you have any fit goals?
ps just read a great healthy lifestyle book, relish by daphine oz (thanks wendy for recommending it!), great lifestyle/cook book/ heatlh book that got me excited to live a healthy lifestyle again
Good for you! I just signed up for a 10k as motivation to get my butt in gear. Summer's just around the corner, so I guess it's time to get fit again :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love your fitness goals! I notice that I go through 'swings' of unfit moments. It sucks. I think it definitely helps to have an accountability group: online or physical. Good luck! I know you can do it. :) Your goals are very achievable. I hate it when people make unrealistic fitness goals and end up quitting early because they get frustrated with their results.

I SO know where you are at! After I got married, moved, began university, and started my 'new life', my fitness goals went down the drain. I did a 5k/10k this weekend with my small group, and it motivated me to start working out again. I had forgotten how much I loved it. Now I'm planning on running a lot more frequently, and I've already planned three hikes for this next week! I can't believe I forgot how great it feels!
ReplyDeleteTake care,

Ugh, I feel like I loose track weekly! I just lack motivation, I think...but every time I do work out, I just feel SO MUCH BETTER afterwards! Good luck with your goals--you're inspiring me to make some too!
ReplyDeleteyou've got this, lady! it's so easy to get in a rut, i totally understand. but now that nice weather is more or less among us, it's easier to get motivated again! cheers to finding your inner fit-gurl! it's kind of like j-lo's old fly girl, but cooler?
ReplyDeleteWe all get in a rut now and then. It definitely takes work and commitment, which I don't always want to give! The good news is you CAN and will get back in it! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals! Being injured has really hindered my fitness. I know it's going to be so hard getting it back. Nothing like some summer motivation though!
